Come and learn how to trace your ancestors and make your own family history books with Jane whilst enjoying Marbella’s attractions and temperate climate. Study, take beach walks, visit places of interest or just relax in the sun! Described as having a great sense of humour, Jane will ensure that the tracing your ancestors study sessions are ‘light-hearted’ as well as rewarding.
Genealogy has become one of the most popular home-based hobbies for the over 40s. It can provide you with fascinating insights into where your ancestors lived and the occupations they were involved in. By the end of your genealogy holiday, you will be able to: · access websites providing information that will help you to trace your ancestors and develop your family tree · store information retrieved on a genealogy software programme · order birth, marriage, death certificates that supply valuable information · make simple family history books containing your family tree, photographs and information about your ancestors that you can share with family and friends.

Your genealogy holiday consists of- · 7 nights half-board - breakfast, lunch or evening meal · Three x 2.5 hours group courses on methods and techniques in tracing your ancestors. The sessions will also include a wealth of tips, for example, strategies for finding your more ‘elusive’ ancestors. (Mornings: Sun, Tues, Weds, 10-12.30) · Two x 2 hours of paired tuition and two x 2 hours of individual tuition on applying the techniques you have learned and developing your own family history booklets with accompanying photos and documents. · Free time for individual study/relaxation · Use of kitchen to prepare drinks/snacks. · Use of laundry facilities. · Opportunity to visit Marbella old town and market · A copy of Jane’s booklet ‘How to Trace Your Ancestors’ Guests will need to bring certain information about their more recent ancestors in order to begin the ‘tracing back’ process.
